UXHK 2012 & Selling UX (Published: 22 Mar 2012)
On February 17 and 18, I attended the 2nd annual User Experience Conference in Hong Kong (UXHK). What I found out during the conference is that many UX designers, researchers and consultants—whether in America, Asia or Europe—are facing the same challenges. And most of these challenges, in one way or another, have to do with stakeholder buy-in for UX research or processes. We know that it works, but how do you convince a client a UX approach will benefit their product? Or in other words, how do we sell ourselves?

User Experience at UXHK (Published: 27 Feb 2012)
Last 17-18th of February 2012 saw the participation of Joel Sudiacal and myself in UXHK, a Hong Kong conference and workshop for User Experience thought leaders and practitioners, not just from Asia, but from around the world. Also joining us from Morphlabs, was Jeremie Lim. The list of speakers and topics can be found here. I will provide a quick overview of my experience from the event and I hope to post another on more specific topics.

UX Hong Kong 2012 (Published: 1 Mar 2012)
This is the second year UXHK has run, and this is the second time I have attended. This year around the conference went from a one day talks/workshop combo, to a two day event with the first day being devoted to a range of talks from local and international speakers, followed by a range of roundtable discussions; the second day comprising of two workshop slots - each slot having 3 options.

UX Hong Kong workshop results (Published: 2 Mar 2012)
The participants made short films in groups, in about 1.5 hrs from developing an idea to presenting it. Each film consists of only 3 shots, based on a simple script that focused on an experience during UXHK2012 that was meaningful to at least one person in the group. Some of the films can be seen on Vimeo now.

UX Hong Kong retrospective (Published: 2 Mar 2012)
The 2 days UX Hong Kong conference have been flown away like the night skyline that I see from the window sitting on the train, going to the airport.
I saw people I already knew (the inspiring researcher Thomas Sharon from Google, Whitney Hess, who’s presentation I missed in Florence), I met louis Rosenfeld (co-author of the first most important book about information architecture) and many other professionals: I hope I’ll be in touch with you in the future, guys.
